Professional & Certified Air Handler Cleaning Services
In Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
For Cleaner Air, Lower Costs, and Longer Equipment Life.
When air handlers get dirty, they spread dust, mold, and allergens throughout a building. Dirty air handlers can also force your HVAC system to work harder, raising energy bills and risking breakdowns. To keep your AHU systems efficient, safe, and compliant, it is recommended to get them cleaned by professionals.
What Is an Air Handler Unit?
Generally, an Air Handling Unit is found in the mechanical room or on the rooftops of a building. It is an integral part of your HVAC system. The main job of the AHU system is to regulate and circulate air throughout the building. This task is accomplished by using ductwork, which pushes the conditioned air into every part of the building.
Without proper attention, AHUs can become a source of contamination by spreading dust, allergens, or even microbial growth across your facility. Which is why cleaning is as important as mechanical maintenance.
Components of AHUs that require thorough cleaning
When cleaning AHUs, it is important to clean the following key components. Our certified technicians clean all the components using proper techniques and pay full attention to each one.
Filters
These prevent dust & harmful particulates from entering the air-conditioner. When filters get clogged, they reduce airflow & air quality affecting system performance & energy bills.
Dampers & Housing
Drain Pans & Lines
These collect moisture during cooling. Cleaning removes blockages, which leads to water leaks and bacterial growth, thus keeping the system clean & efficient.
Fans & Blowers
Heating and Cooling Coils
Humidifiers
Common Issues that We Prevent
Using proven techniques and proper cleaning procedures, our technicians help your AHUs avoid:
- Mold growth found in the drain pans and coils.
-
Reduced airflow due to dirty fans and filters.
- Unpleasant odors from microbial contamination.
- Higher energy bills from inefficient equipment.
- Inconsistent temperatures throughout the building.
Our Procedure for Cleaning Air Handlers
We follow all the guidelines provided by NADCA, and the cleaning process includes all these following steps:
How Often Should Air Handlers Be Cleaned?
We evaluate access points, contamination levels, and unit condition, after that Replace or clean filters if needed.
HEPA vacuuming is done to clear dirt from surfaces and clean coils with safe cleaners to remove buildup.
Flush the drain pans and lines with disinfectants to remove mold and smells. For better airflow, we clean the fan blades and fins and remove any dust.
Apply microbial treatment to remove bacteria and mold, followed by a final assessment where we verify whether the system is effective, clean, and has adequate airflow.
Commercial AHUs should be thoroughly cleaned once every year. In Hospitals, Laboratories, Schools and other sensitive environments, where air quality is very crucial, more frequent cleaning is required to meet compliance standards.
All Filters need to be inspected monthly and should be cleaned or replaced, based on these inspections.
Drain pipes and condensate lines also need to be checked for any clogging atleast once every three months.
Coils, Dampers, & Fan Motors should be inspected and cleaned twice a year to remove dust, scale buildup, and microbial growth.
